Introducing MDML - A Domain-specific Modelling Language for Automotive Measurement Devices

The method of model-based mutation testing has recently been introduced in the AVL List GmbH to automatically test the various measurement devices within the company’s portfolio. However, the initial approach of using UML as a modelling language turned out to be non-satisfying. In this paper, we introduce a textual domain-specific language for the sole purpose of modelling the behaviour of measurement devices. Furthermore, we examine the technical differences to UML as well as the usability-related aspects, which determine the acceptance of the language by its end users.
